POSITION OVERVIEW
JOB PURPOSE:
The Head of Sales / Country Head for VMO ALTEN Malaysia is primarily responsible for driving commercial development and market penetration in Malaysia, positioning VMO ALTEN as a trusted technology and engineering partner for enterprise clients. This is a business builder and hunter role, focused on acquiring new customers, developing strategic accounts, and expanding VMO ALTEN’s footprint in priority sectors across Malaysia.
As ALTEN Group and VMO expand into Malaysia, the Head of Sales / Country Manager will lead the launch and commercial acceleration of the entity, taking full ownership of revenue growth, client portfolio development, and go-to-market execution. This includes identifying opportunities, shaping value propositions, building relationships at senior levels, and establishing VMO ALTEN’s credibility in the Malaysian market.
In addition to the commercial mandate, the role carries secondary responsibilities as Country Head, ensuring smooth daily operations and alignment between Malaysian teams and regional/global functions. This includes coordination across sales, presales, delivery oversight, HR, finance, and administration to support healthy operations and excellent delivery.
This role is ideal for a hands-on commercial leader capable of balancing strategic vision with execution, eager to build a business from the ground up in a dynamic and competitive market. The role also includes leadership and care for Malaysia-based employees, fostering engagement, professional growth, and alignment with VMO and ALTEN’s values.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Business Growth & Sales Leadership
- Own P&L, revenue, and margin targets for Malaysia.
- Develop and execute the go-to-market strategy in key sectors such as Healthcare, Logistics, BFSI, and Manufacturing.
- Drive new client acquisition through direct sales, strategic partnerships, and by leveraging ALTEN Group’s global client network and reputation.
- Expand existing accounts through upselling, cross-selling, and multi-service offerings across IT and engineering domains.
- Maintain accurate forecasting and consistently achieve sales and profitability targets.
2. Client Relationship Management - Build and maintain trusted relationships with enterprise and group clients at C-level.
- Act as executive sponsor for key accounts, ensuring satisfaction, retention, and growth.
- For offshore projects, coordinate closely with offshore delivery teams to guarantee service quality and client success.
- Represent both VMO and ALTEN in client meetings, industry events, and partnership forums.
3. People & Operations Leadership
- Oversee daily operations of VMO Malaysia, ensuring alignment and collaboration across all functions.
- Recruit, lead, mentor, and support the local team (sales, presales, delivery, admin, etc.) with empathy and accountability.
- Drive team engagement, professional development, and retention through active leadership and communication.
- Ensure effective governance, compliance, and coordination with Finance, HR, and Legal in VMO/ ALTEN Group.
- Maintain business rhythm through structured reviews, reporting, and performance tracking.
- Promote VMO and ALTEN’s reputation and presence within Malaysia’s technology ecosystem
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Strong commercial leadership, with a proven ability to drive new business acquisition, expand key accounts, and achieve revenue & margin targets
- Strategic mindset with the ability to analyse markets, shape a go-to-market plan, and translate strategy into operational execution.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to build trusted relationships with C-level stakeholders and represent VMO ALTEN externally
- Solid operational understanding, capable of coordinating with cross-functional teams (presales, delivery, HR, finance, legal) and overseeing local business rhythms.
- Deep understanding of Malaysia’s enterprise and technology market.
- Management and team leadership skills, including hiring, coaching, mentoring, and driving performance in a multicultural and matrix environment.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Management, IT or Engineering-related fields.
- Minimum 10–15 years of experience in IT services or Engineering or digital transformation sales, including both new business acquisition and account management.
- Proven track record in achieving sales targets and potential to lead business operations in Malaysia.
- Experience collaborating with multinational or group organizations is highly desirable.
- Fluent in English; additional regional languages are a plus.
