President Biden's Vietnam Visit: VMO in Advancing US and Vietnam Relations
During a historic state visit to Hanoi, Vietnam, President Joseph R. Biden and General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong upgraded U.S.-Vietnam relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, symbolizing their joint commitment to peace, prosperity, and sustainable development.
Investing in the Innovation Economy, Cooperating in Science and Technology
The United States and Vietnam are strengthening their collaboration in the innovation economy and science and technology sectors to bolster prosperity not only for their citizens but also for the broader Indo-Pacific region. President Biden and Secretary Blinken will host a U.S.-Vietnam Innovation and Investment Summit, bringing together industry leaders from both nations to discuss technology and economic cooperation, including Vietnamese investments in the U.S. Additionally, a new Semiconductor Partnership aims to enhance semiconductor supply chains, while workforce development initiatives in Vietnam will support semiconductor capacity in the United States. The establishment of the DELTA Network will foster technology coordination with regional partners, and a Vietnam-U.S. Science and Technology Agreement for Research (VUSTAR) will expand joint research efforts in various fields, emphasizing areas such as artificial intelligence, health sciences, and climate science. These initiatives reflect the commitment of both countries to mutual progress and technological advancement.
